For me as an artist, hair and makeup trials are very important to have done. It is a great opportunity to meet my client, and together come up with a style that will suit her best. To make sure we are on the same page with that the end result should be.
Here are some great tips to keep in mind to have a successful trial.
- How do you NOT want to look? What to you dislike in hair and/or makeup trends. This will help give me a great start, and give me some direction.
- Pictures are extremely helpful, but keep in mind to be realistic in your expectations. Showing pictures with a big updo, or a style with lots of volume- when your hair is extremely fine and short, it will be difficult to acheive that look right there. However, extensions may be an option, and that is always something to discuss at the trial as well!
-Arrive to the appointment with a clean, moisturized face. For hair, freshly washed, squeaky clean hair as a rule is not the easiest to work with. But, that does not mean go days without washing your hair before an updo. I recommend that you wash your hair the day before an event.
- Bring your veil and/or any hair accessories that you plan on using, even if you aren't 100% on what you want to use, bring some options just to try it out and see what it looks like.
- It is best to at least have a general idea of what you are looking for. As a professional, I will always make suggestions, but I do not know you from any other day as to what your typical hair routine is, and what you like or don't like.
Never be afraid to voice your opinions. It is your special day, I want to make sure you are 100% happy. I will never be offended if there is something you don't like during your trial.
- Communication is key from beginning to end. Part of my job is as an artist is to listen to your needs, and to execute them as best I can.
- Take pictures with regular flash photography, if you look fabulous in those pictures, you will look even more fabulous with professional photography!
- Make sure you keep notes on how your hair and makeup hold up for the remainder of the day, of it there is anything you don't like as the day continues after you leave. And keep me updated on those details.
I like to have a good relationship with my client leading up to the big day. Do not hesitate at any time following your trial to touch base, or ask questions. My job is to work with you in achieving your perfect look!
